Learn more about financial aid for international students.
If you are planning to come from outside the United States to study at Monroe Community College on an F-1 visa, you are unfortunately ineligible for federal financial aid. We encourage you to apply for scholarships, or you may be able to secure a student loan in your home country to help pay for your college costs.
Monroe Community College does not award scholarships to international students at the time of admission. However, current MCC international students can apply for institutional scholarships through MCC Scholarships Online.
There are a lot of search tools and websites for international students looking for funding on the Internet. Some are helpful, but some may contain outdated or inaccurate scholarship information. Be careful where you are sending your personal information! Check out the links below to find a few scholarship and loan search tools, as well as advice and information for international students.

Required minimum budget for international students
As an international student, you are required to provide proof of sufficient funding to attend college in the United States. You must show documentation that you or your financial sponsor can pay for at least your first full academic year of study (9 months or 2 semesters) up front. You must provide your financial documentation at the time of admission, in order to receive your Form I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility for F-1 visa). You will also need to provide the same financial documentation to the U.S. consulate/embassy when applying for your F-1 visa.
At Monroe Community College, the required amount for the first full academic year is based on the college’s estimate of tuition & fees, housing, books & supplies, medical insurance and miscellaneous living expenses.
An up-to-date estimate of expenses is maintained by the Office of Admissions. Please visit the International Admissions website and see “Step 4: Afford” for the current estimated annual expenses for international students.
Bills for tuition and fees are created at the time of class registration each semester (fall and spring) and payment instructions will be included with your bill. Please make your payments directly to MCC’s Student Accounts Office.
Remember, if you need help or have any questions, you may call International Services at (585) 292-3170 (please add your country’s dialing code) or email the Coordinator of International Services, Carly O’Keefe, at cokeefe7@andadoor.com.
